The GefenTV 4x1 HD Switcher w/ Audio Decoding is a must-have preamp for anyone wanting to create surround sound audio using multiple audio/video inputs. It offers an easy-to-use alternative to over-complicated Home Theater Receivers, while supporting 3DTV and the latest Blu-ray audio features. It decodes digital multichannel surround-sound from up to four HDMI sources, or by using S/PDIF and optical digital audio sources. Audio is output on six discrete analog RCA jacks, ready for any multichannel audio power amplifier.
Dolby® Digital 5.1 (AC3), Dolby Pro Logic II, LPCM 5.1, Dolby® TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio™, and HDMI stereo and multichannel surround sound audio formats are supported with up to six discrete channels. The front left and front right channels offer bi-amplification capability to satisfy the most discerning listeners. Advanced audio pre-processing insures an optimal surround sound signal, and a bright LCD display guides operation, using the front-panel controls, the included IR remote, or by an external control system via RS-232 control.
How It Works
Users can select audio from any one of four connected HDMI sources, both digital audio inputs and a 2-channel analog audio input. A Blu-ray player, gaming console, set-top box, DVD player, CD player and more can all be connected at the same time. If an HDMI source is selected, video is delivered in HDMI format to any HDTV display, and audio is delivered as 5.1 channel audio using standard RCA connectors. The HDMI output supports 3DTV pass-through, making it ideal for forward-proofing systems. It also supports digital audio-only sources, using the digital and analog audio inputs, offering 5.1 channel analog audio outputs, for high quality surround sound. Users can control all audio features using the IR remote or front-panel buttons. An RS-232 port and 12V triggers allow interaction with any home automation system for added convenience. When not in use, the GefenTV 4x1 HD Switcher w/ Audio Decoding has a standby mode, eliminating excessive power consumption, and is Energy Star™ compliant.
