A
full time commitment that is more than writing checks,
but serious hands-on
Thinking Globally - Acting Locally. |
The Markertek Fund is our way
of uniting communities and families
a dynamic, influential and caring expression
of our core beliefs. It began when Tower Products / Markertek helped establish
the Daily Bread Soup Kitchen in Woodstock, New York. In May of 2005, Daily
Bread will celebrate its 13th Anniversary. Over the past decade, more than
60,000 meals have been served out of Daily Bread to those who would otherwise
go hungry. The Daily Bread also offers a place to sit down, bond and share;
along with that hot, nourishing soup. To many, the opportunity to bond and forge
friendship is just as important... nourishment for the body and the soul. Feeding the Hungry
The Markertek Fund has grown from that initial endeavor to become an Award Winning Foundation that
draws from the skills, crafts and mastery of our employees. We are able to reach out and make a difference
every single day.
WE offer anonymous donations of food and clothing all year round and "adopt" families in
need at Holiday time. Warm coats, boots, hats, gloves, food and presents, in addition to heartfelt
good wishes, are given to those in need.
WE have our pro audio consultants offering their time and technological expertise for music fund raisers.
They have been sound tech's for schools, hospitals, houses of worship, shelters and environmental celebrations.
WE support the arts through funding, patronage and sponsorship. The Woodstock Film Festival,
video production workshops, local and national cable access shows, teen run television stations...
all endure because of our largess. We also sponsor local art shows, arts in education and showcase
some of our local artists in residence.
WE work directly and help effect change by giving time to be a guest speaker, founding member or board
member for many local charities and non profit organizations. This includes educational programs that
assist youth in finding the career of their dreams and educational mentor and internship programs that
benefit the whole community.
WE hold an annual golf tournament, The Markertek Open, to subsidize the positive, professional
programs of The Food Bank of the Hudson Valley and provide for our most important legacy, our youth.
WE support the environment, environmental causes, land conservancy, irreplaceable history and our community.
WE reach out beyond ourselves to offer help worldwide.
WE have also joined forces with other caring companies in our industry to reach out with time and people
power and are grateful and honored to see the generosity and resources they offer.
The Markertek Fund was awarded the National World Economic Development Association's Community
Impact Award entrusted to only eleven companies nationwide.
WE will continue to work toward our goals of bringing light and hope....to inspire and respect
to
reach out into our communities helping our neighbors....worldwide.
