The Sony ECM-680S is an MS stereo shotgun, electret condenser microphone, ideal for a broad range of field production and broadcast studio applications. Incorporating newly developed microphone capsules, the ECM-680S offers excellent sensitivity, low inherent noise, and a flat-and-wide frequency response. The most distinguished feature of the ECM-680S is its switchable operation between a highly directional monaural mode and stereo mode. Monaural mode provides highly directional sound pickup, while stereo mode delivers natural and spatial sound. The MS microphone signal of the ECM-680S is internally decoded and it provides L and R (stereo) outputs.
The ECM-680S is supplied with a XLR-5-pin to XLR-5 pin cable for use with HDW-F900R/ HDW-750 HDCAM or PDW-F330/PDW-F350 XDCAM HD camcorders. The optional K-1504 cable should be used to mount/ connect the ECM-680S stereo shotgun onto camcorders with two 3-pin XLR inputs.
Did You Know....... many top record producers, when recording vocals, will use a dynamic mic for up close vocals and a heavily compressed shotgun mic about five feet away. It's true! The dynamic mic not only captures part of the final sound, but is also useful for giving the artist something to focus on, keeping a fairly consistent position relative to the shotgun mic. Have a shotgun mic on hand for your next vocal session....it could be the goldmine you've been seeking!
