Panasonic Connect North America announces that it will extend NDI support to its lineup of 4K integrated cameras including the AW-UE40, AW-UE50, AW-HE145 and AW-UE150 in addition to its Memory Card Camera Recorder, the AG-CX350. The NDI upgrades, which previously required a paid license from Vizrt NDI AB, will be made available via a free firmware update between December 2024 and April 2025. After this period, the models will ship with ready-to-go NDI capabilities.
As IP technology continues to play a stronger role in video production and quickly becomes a standard in equipment development, this move will help expand the NDI ecosystem for greater efficiency and flexibility in workflows.
“Our collaboration with Panasonic marks a significant milestone in the expansion of the NDI ecosystem,” says Daniel Nergard, President of NDI. “By making NDI a standard feature across a wide range of products, Panasonic enables thousands of users to benefit from the seamless integration and powerful flexibility that IP video production offers. We are excited to see Panasonic leading this change and look forward to the innovative solutions that will emerge as a result of this enhanced accessibility.”
NDI, an open standard for connecting video equipment over IP networks, will enable devices to build systems in standard gigabit IP networks, simplifying the transition of video production workflows to IP environments. As a result of this upgrade, more devices can access NDI-enabled systems on the network, such as switchers, cameras, and media servers. This allows video production crews to seamlessly create and distribute a diverse array of content to their audiences. Additionally, Panasonic’s NDI-enabled PTZ cameras support Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) control and audio/video transmission via a single Ethernet cable, significantly enhancing the ease of installation and reducing cabling costs.

Today, the Federal Communications Commissions’ Public Safety and Homeland Security Bureau announced that the agency will begin accepting applications to serve as administrators for its voluntary cybersecurity labeling program for wireless consumer Internet of Things (IoT) products. The program will allow qualifying consumer smart products that meet critical cybersecurity standards to display a label, including a new U.S. government certification mark (“U.S Cyber Trust Mark”), which will help consumers make informed purchasing decisions, easily identify trustworthy products, and encourage manufacturers to prioritize higher cybersecurity standards. This voluntary program will be a collaborative effort between the public and private sectors, with the FCC overseeing the process and authorized third-party administrators managing activities such as evaluating product applications, granting permission to use the label, and educating consumers.
“We live in a world where more and more devices in your home require an internet connection. But these smart devices that make our lives easier and more convenient must also be protected from bringing malware and other kinds of malicious activity into your home,” said Chairwoman Jessica Rosenworcel. “That is why the FCC is taking the next step in getting our Cyber Trust Mark program up and running as quickly as possible. This label will help empower consumers to make informed purchasing decisions while providing incentives for companies to make their products more secure.”
In March 2024, the Commission established a framework for a voluntary cybersecurity labeling program for wireless consumer IoT products, which will include the use of third-party administrators selected by the Commission to support the program. Cybersecurity Labeling Administrators (CLAs) will be authorized by the Commission to certify the use of the FCC IoT Label, which includes the U.S. Cyber Trust Mark, by manufacturers whose products comply with the Commission’s IoT cybersecurity labeling program rules. A Lead Administrator will be selected as well to act as a liaison between the Commission and CLAs, conduct stakeholder outreach to identify/develop and recommend technical standards and testing procedures, and collaborate with CLAs, the FCC, and other stakeholders to develop and execute a consumer education campaign.
Interested parties can file applications to serve in these roles within the program. The public notice with more information about program qualifications, the application process, and other key details is available here.

The United States Federal Communications Commission Chairwoman Jessica Rosenworcel has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Privacy Commissioner of Canada Philippe Dufresne to strengthen information sharing and enforcement cooperation between the two regulators.
In today’s digital age, telecommunications carriers have access to vast amounts of personal information, which is stored and transmitted across complex networks that extend beyond traditional borders. Cross-border enforcement cooperation helps to protect consumer privacy, data, and cybersecurity.
The Federal Communications Commission is responsible for implementing and enforcing America’s communications law and regulations. The Privacy Commissioner of Canada oversees compliance with Canada’s two federal privacy laws that set out the rules for how federal government institutions and certain businesses must handle personal information.
The agreement that was signed today establishes the parameters for the two regulators to exchange information in order to enforce compliance with laws in both countries and to share knowledge and expertise on regulatory policies and technical efforts related to applicable laws.
“A top priority for the Commission is ensuring protection of consumer privacy, data protection and cybersecurity. This is especially important in today’s world, where access to consumers’ personal information is not limited by devices, or borders,” said Chairwoman Jessica Rosenworcel. “It is through strategic partnerships like these that our efforts to protect consumers and their personal information are strengthened even more.”
“In a world where information flows transcend borders and jurisdictions, information sharing and enforcement cooperation with international partners is essential to protecting individuals’ fundamental right to privacy,” said Privacy Commissioner Philippe Dufresne.
