Founded in 1986 in Midtown Manhattan, City Theatrical creates and innovates unique DMX lighting equipment and other accessories for live entertainment, theater, film and video, and architectural use. Their mission? To illuminate the future of live performance! City Theatrical developed its products to serve the needs of working lighting professionals, solving real-world production challenges. By the 1990s, City Theatrical expanded its focus into electronic and control technologies, all designed to make lighting installations safer, faster, and more flexible for production teams everywhere.

DMX Control!
DMX Lighting Control is a City Theatrical specialty! DMX universal communication protocol controls stage lighting, LED screens, and triggers special effects like fog machines or set changes. They engineer fully RDM-enabled DMX dimmers with digital displays and preset programs, making it easy to set DMX addresses without the hassle of DIP switches. City Theatrical's DMXcat® series was created for lighting professionals involved in planning, installing, operating, and maintaining theatrical and studio lighting equipment. This small hardware interface device works with a suite of mobile applications to bring DMX/RDM control and functionality to Android and Apple smartphones! City Theatrical's SHoW Baby® Multiverse systems are wireless DMX transceivers that deliver plug-and-play transmission interfacing with RDM controllers like their DMXcat® Multi Function Test Tool to wirelessly broadcast and receive a full Universe (512 slots) of DMX! Providing more DMX Data using less radio Energy than comparable manufacturers, their Multiverse wireless DMX/RDM systems can broadcast on the 2.4GHz band and 900MHz band at the same time!

Hanging Fixtures
1 5/8" C-channel tracks, or strut channels, are heavy-duty metal framing rails used for Rigging, construction, and electrical work. City Theatrical's Track Tamer with Knob is a piece of Rigging Hardware designed for hanging lighting fixtures from those channel tracks, tightened with an easy-grip winged knob with clever holes for a cotter pin to prevent the knob from vibrating loose. City Theatrical also makes Blacktak™ light masking foil adhesive tape used to control light spill, create shadows, form barndoors, adapt gobos, or as a high-temp-resistant tape that's easy to reposition. It comes in various sizes and can be found on stages and sets everywhere!

How is DMX used to control lighting?
DMX (Digital Multiplex) sends digital command signals via a DMX Controller or software through specialized cables to individual fixtures. A DMX System creates a "universe" of 512 control channels, with each light fixture assigned a unique starting address, usually a specific channel number.
