In 1909, 24-year-old pioneering inventor Adele De Berri revolutionized the way we see motion pictures. Experimenting with the reflective nature of silver paint, she perfected her design, coat by coat, until she found the right mix that would stick to the canvas. Support for female inventors and businesswomen was non-existent; women couldn't even vote, so Adele marketed her invention directly to Chicago's motion picture houses. Film creators and audiences loved the brighter, crisper images displayed by her now-legendary Silver Screens, which illuminated the "Golden Age" of Hollywood. In 1925, the De Berri Screen and Scenic Company became Da-Lite to honor those highly reflective canvas screens, and Adele's legacy continues to thrive today!
