SMPTE 2022-6, 2110 standards, and Precision Time Protocol (PTP) are essential elements of this transformation.
These Carrier Class Switches are designed for highly accurate nanosecond timing and control. IEEE 1588 PTPv2 with all clocking modes, plus NTP v4, means Quarra switches are ready for Media Broadcast, ProAV, Defense, and Industrial application and is ruggedized for heavy use.
The device supports all possible clocking modes, including Ordinary & Boundary Clocks, Peer to Peer Transparent Clock, End to End Transparent Clock with Hardware Timestamping (The switch adds timestamps to PTP event packets as they enter and exit the Switch). Super accurate clock synchronization means the unit is well suited for 5G networks, video, and industrial applications (including support for the Modbus TCP protocol). Support for QoS CoS/DSCP increases determinism.
The unit has been tested as fully interoperable with SMPTE 2110, SDVoE (Tx/Rx), AES67, and Dante. Grandmaster integration testing has been performed with all standard Grandmaster Clocks, such as Meinberg and Sonifex. The unit also boasts powerful switching features including 8 Priority Queues, 9216bytes Jumbo Frame, 16K MAC Table Size, and 12Mbits Packet Buffer. Traffic Management is done with IEEE 802.3x flow control to manage traffic to prevent network congestion and data loss. And the unit supports IGMP Snooping v1/v2/v3, up to 512 groups, and DHCP Relay Option 82 for policy IP address assignment and RSTP, MSTP, ERPS, LACP for Network Redundancy and Ring Protection.

The Quarra PTP-10GG8POE is used as either a PTP Leaf or Spine switch supporting 24x 100/1000/2.5G/5G/10GT POE local Ethernet ports and aggregating to Spine or Core Switches using 8x 10 Gig SFP Ethernet (Fiber).
