Laird's CAT5e Extreme etherCON cables are high quality CAT-5e cables built with Belden 7923A DataTuff cable with Neutrik NE8MC RJ45 heavy duty cable end housings. Cables are designed to withstand punishing conditions in the field or on-stage. The cable features four Cat 5e 24 AWG bonded-pairs in an industrial grade oil and UV-resistant PVC jacket suited for outdoor harsh environments. Signal bandwidth sits at 350MHz enhanced Category 5e for Gigabit Ethernet, 100BaseTX and 100BaseVG ANYLAN applications in NTSC/PAL Component or Composite Video, AES/EBU Digital Audio, AES51 and RS-422.
1G Ethernet Max Distance
Laird certifies this Cat5e cable to 525 ft (160 m) for 1G Ethernet and 150 ft (45.72 m) for 10G Ethernet, validated through Bit Error Rate (BER) testing. IEEE 802.3 specifies a maximum of 328 ft (100 m) for Cat5e Ethernet applications; exceeding this threshold risks signal degradation and link failure. Supported signal types-including Ethernet, PoE, and AV-over-IP-each carry distinct distance limitations. Conductor gauge (AWG) affects signal attenuation, power delivery, and usable distance-higher AWG conductors may reduce maximum range. Always consult your application's specifications prior to deployment.
Laird Tech Note: Does not intermate with the CAT6 chassis connectors NE8FDY-C6 and NE8FDY-C6-B. Compliant with all PoE Specs, when installed according to TIA guidelines.
