The Laird EC8-RJ45 CAT5e Tactical Ethernet Cable was developed for any application requiring heavy-duty CAT5e Ethernet cable deployment! It features Belden 7923a CAT5e DataTuff Twisted pair cable with a standard RJ45 connector at one end and a professional Neutrik EtherCON RJ45 connector on the other. The standard RJ45 connector end features a snagless round boot to protect the RJ45 locking tab.
EC8-RJ45 series Ethernet cables are Ideal for use with video and audio CAT5e extenders on set, in the field or anywhere a heavy-duty CAT5e to Neutrik EtherCON cable is needed. It's also a great Vox VC-12 Pedalboard replacement cable for connection to Valvetronix "Blue" Series amps. Because it's a tactical grade cable, it's a rugged option for stage and touring use.
Prevalent use of RJ45 connectors in the stage world has created the need for a road-worthy Ethernet cable. Neutrik's EtherCON has a rugged diecast shell and unique chuck type strain relief which protects Ethernet connections in a variety of broadcast & commercial applications, and is designed to prevent breakage of the fragile components of standard RJ45 connectors.
1G Ethernet Max Distance
Laird certifies this Cat5e cable to 525 ft (160 m) for 1G Ethernet and 150 ft (45.72 m) for 10G Ethernet, validated through Bit Error Rate (BER) testing. IEEE 802.3 specifies a maximum of 328 ft (100 m) for Cat5e Ethernet applications; exceeding this threshold risks signal degradation and link failure. Supported signal types-including Ethernet, PoE, and AV-over-IP-each carry distinct distance limitations. Conductor gauge (AWG) affects signal attenuation, power delivery, and usable distance-higher AWG conductors may reduce maximum range. Always consult your application's specifications prior to deployment.
Laird Tech Note: Compliant with all PoE Specs, when installed according to TIA guidelines.
