The Laird TRI-1857A series of triaxial cable assemblies are designed for ENG, studio, and remote production environments where a single terminated assembly needs to withstand repeated field use. Suitable for broadcast engineers and system integrators specifying or building out pre-terminated camera assemblies for camera-to-CCU applications.
In the television industry, triax is heavily utilized and by leveraging frequency-division multiplexing, a single triaxial cable simultaneously multiplexes and transmits power, signals, and communication. The power is delivered directly to the camera head, the signals transmit high-definition or analog video feeds, multi-channel audio, and camera control data to the CCU, and the communication carries intercom feeds, tally light signals, which alert operators when they are live, and return program video. Because of this, venues like sports arenas often have permanent triax lines installed so visiting television crews can simply plug in without running miles of individual cables.
