Ceiling and wall-mount speakers are designed to be installed permanently in a room or environment rather than placed on floors, shelves, or stands. Ceiling Speakers are designed to be mounted flush inside a ceiling and project sound downward, while In-wall speakers mount on a wall or flush in a wall and project sound outward. Pendant Speakers are a bit of both: a specialized type of ceiling speaker suspended by cables or rods commonly used in open, high-ceiling environments with exposed architecture, such as warehouses, atriums, retail stores, and airports. Permanent Fixtures
Ceiling and Wall-mounted options are also known as Install Speakers as they seamlessly blend into their environment. Commonly used for distributing audio to background music systems, for paging in commercial spaces, and sound reinforcement in conference rooms, retail stores, restaurants, and offices. Wall Speakers can be found delivering sound to public and home theaters, surround-sound systems, conference rooms, and hospitality spaces where ceiling mounting isn't preferred.

The Electrical Configurations
Ceiling, in-wall, and pendant speakers usually come in two types of electrical configurations. The first is 70V audio, common in commercial spaces, connecting multiple speakers to a single amplifier. Most commercial speakers have built-in transformers, making them good for long cable runs and large areas. They're also easier to expand and control volume in different zones. The other type is low-impedance audio, typically 4 or 8 ohms, used in home audio and home theaters. In these systems, speakers connect straight to the amplifier, so you need to watch the total impedance. Low-impedance setups work best for short cable runs and high-quality sound.
