FBQ2496 - Overview

Feedback Destroyer Pro

The Behringer FBQ2496 Feedback Destroyer PRO is the fastest feedback suppressor on the market (less than 0.2 seconds) and the only one to offer a 96kHz sampling rate. This rack-mountable audio solution is the quick, easy way to protect yourself and your audience from feedback.

Using an ultra-fast feedback detection algorithm, the FBQ2496 automatically and "intelligently" locates up to 20 feedback frequencies per channel. The algorithm then sets extremely narrow notch filters (up to 1/60th of an octave) to "destroy" feedback frequencies, leaving the remainder of your signal virtually untouched. And with the "Set-and-Forget" default setting, plus the Panic button, your FEEDBACK DESTROYER can be up and running in a matter of seconds.

FBQ2496's Auto mode continuously monitors the mix, resetting programmed filters automatically, while the Manual Mode allows individual programming of up to 40 fully-parametric filters with frequency, bandwidth and gain adjustment. Open MIDI architecture makes future firmware updates and flexible communication with digital equipment exceedingly simple.

  • Features:

    • 40 Filters: 20 filters per channel across the 2 channels
    • Automatic Feedback Detection: Locates up to 20 feedback frequencies per channel and sets narrow notch filters, leaving the rest of the signal virtually untouched
    • FBQ Notch Filters: 20Hz to 20kHz with a 1/60th octave bandwidth and 0dB to -36dB of cut
    • LEARN Mode: A quick tap starts the search for critical frequencies and deploys Single-Shot filters, with music or noise present in the room
    • AUTOLEARN: Hold LEARN longer than one second and it provokes feedback with louder impulses, then stores critical frequencies as Single-Shot filters
    • Automatic Filters: Act as needed during performance; FILTER LIFT resets inactive filters after 1, 5, 10, 30 or 60 minutes, or can be off
    • PANIC Button: Held for up to 1 second, it rapidly searches for feedback frequencies and suppresses them
    • SPEECH Mode: Raises suppression sensitivity so critical frequencies are recognized sooner, for situations with speech only
    • FREEZE: Keeps all Single-Shot and automatic filters at their settings until you press it again
    • Parametric EQ Mode: Up to 20 fully parametric filters per channel from 20Hz to 20kHz, bandwidth 1/60th to 10 octaves, gain +15dB to -36dB
    • Stereo or Separate Channels: Stereo mode selects both channels; hold LEFT-RIGHT to separate them and assign different parameters to each
    • Two Monitor Paths: The 2-channel design takes pre-fader aux outputs from the console and feeds the monitor power amps
    • Channel Insert Use: Insert it into channels prone to feedback, so deliberate feedback such as guitar feedback is not eliminated
    • OPERATING LEVEL Switch: Selects -10dBV or +4dBu, and the level meters adapt to the selected nominal level
    • Balanced Connections: Inputs and outputs on balanced XLR and 1/4" TRS connectors
    • Hard Bypass: Hold BYPASS for a hard bypass, and a relay provides hard bypass in case of power outage
    • Converters: 24-bit/96kHz, with 107dB dynamic range and a frequency response from below 10Hz to 44kHz
    • MIDI IN, OUT and THRU: On 5-pole DIN connectors
