The Dillinger Labs Death From Below Mk2 is built and optimized from the ground up to be a battery powered speaker. In the world of battery speakers, bags of Watts is actually a bad thing. Imagine how long a 115 Wh battery would power a 3600 W speaker..115/3600 = 0.03 hours. Even once you consider crest factor, you still end up at at around 0.13 hours (8 minutes).
Dillinger Labs started by making the volume work more intuitively. Now you can crank the volume to the top and still have clean bass. Dillinger Labs didn't use brute force. Dillinger Labs didn't just throw watts at it. That means they also didn't compromise battery life or weight. None of the refinements involved adding dynamics compression in the DSP. But they did carefully sculpt the EQ presets to make Mk2 sound even sweeter. Exactly zero people complained DFB didn't have enough bells & whistles, so Dillinger Labs didn't add any.
In total they made 50 refinements to the DFB Mk2. Some were foundational, such as the enhancements they made to the ports and acoustic chamber. Others were little things, like making the power button white so you can easily find it in a dark room. The lion's share of the refinements add up to an extra 6 dB SPL of clean bass. Mk2 is way louder, and it's also way clearer.
The SKAA® standard for wireless audio guarantees compatibility between all products bearing the SKAA Compatible Badge.
