The DFD Remote Addressing Device (RAD) is used to set the DMX address of compatible products using DMX/RDM. RDM (Remote Device Management) is an enhancement to DMX512 which allows status information and parameters (such as the DMX address) to be communicated over the DMX link.
When powered normally, the RAD defaults to setting the DMX address. However, when the RAD is powered while holding the button below the ones digit on the display, it will show the letter "P" indicating that it will be setting the personality of the selected RDM device.
Operation of the RAD is very simple. Connect the RAD to the DMX cable, power the RAD, and push NEXT. The RAD will identify a fixture and display its current DMX address or personality number. Use the buttons below each digit to set a new address or personality selection. Push NEXT to store the new values in the fixture and to select another device. The LAST button allows you to step back through previously discovered devices.
