Designed for the rigors of modern-day hybrid broadcast and live production, the Cobalt blueCORE-2 packs uncompromising 10-bit image quality into a 1RU platform. It is agile, powerful, and extremely flexible. The unit offers SDI, Fiber, and HDMI inputs, providing 4x independent processing paths at up to 3G-SDI 1080p. Alternatively, it can deliver a single full 12G-SDI 4K path with frame sync. It supports flexible up/down/cross conversion and user ARC control. Audio embedding/de-embedding and routing are included from embedded, AES, or MADI sources. The system also allows audio embedding/de-embedding, routing, and shuffling from optional Dolby and Dante.
At its heart is an unmatched 33-point tetrahedral interpolated 3D LUT. This is a purpose-built color processing engine that offers bi-directional mapping between SDR and HDR, as BT.709 or BT.2020 wide color gamuts. Industry-standard BBC HLG and NBCU single-master LUTs are included as a standard feature. This gives sports, news, and live event productions a proven, drop-in path to simultaneous HDR and SDR delivery from a single master platform. For real-time, metadata-aware workflows, the optional Technicolor engine adds dynamic SDR-to-HDR, HDR-to-SDR, and HDR-to-HDR conversion. Features include SL-HDR encode/decode and ITM Intelligent Tone Management.
Optional SCTE-104 insertion, logo insertion, and clean and quiet switching extend the platform to nearly any signal-chain role. Operators can configure everything from a 7" front-panel touchscreen with 4x LED-illuminated rotary knobs, via the Web UI, or through Cobalt's OGCP-9000/CC control panel.
