The Gefen EXT-HDKVM-LANTX is the transmitter unit for a powerful and flexible HD KVM and AV over IP solution, designed to grant remote access to your high-definition sources over a Gigabit Local Area Network. This receiver extends HDMI video at resolutions up to 1080p Full HD and 1920x1200 (WUXGA), along with USB 2.0, RS-232, IR, and 2-way audio signals up to 330ft (100m) from any sender unit on the network. As part of a massively scalable video over IP system, it can be used in a virtual matrix of over 65,000 sender and receiver units, making it the perfect solution for large-scale remote workstation access and professional IP video distribution for digital signage applications.
How It Works
The Gefen HD KVM over IP system operates with two main components: a Sender unit and one or more Receiver units. First, connect your HDMI source and its corresponding USB (for KVM extension), RS-232, and audio interfaces to the Sender unit. At the remote location, connect your Hi-Def display, USB keyboard and mouse, and other required peripherals to the Receiver unit. The Sender and Receiver are then linked via a Gigabit Local Area Network, using CAT-5e or better cable up to 330ft (100m) long. By adding multiple Senders and Receivers to the network, you can create a flexible and massively scalable 'virtual matrix,' allowing any connected workstation to seamlessly switch and take control of any source on the AV over IP network using the receiver's dedicated switch button or the intuitive web interface.
Please Note: A Gigabit switch is required. The Gigabit switch must support 8K jumbo frame packets in order for multicast mode to operate. If your LAN is not dedicated to Gefen KVM-LAN products exclusively, then a managed switch is highly recommended.
