Slice 356 is a 1U rack mount H.264 decoder built for OB vans and enterprise applications. It enables video professionals to output low latency high definition 1080p video at up to 10Mbps via HD-SDI. Slice 356 includes 2.4/5Ghz MIMO WiFi, ethernet, and cellular connectivity options and supports multiple transport protocols, including MPEG Transport Stream, RTP/RTSP, and Zixi. With the addition of Teradek's Sputnik server, Slice 356 rack mount encoders gain IFB and remote monitoring capabilities that give broadcasters full control over their IP video deployments.

As a broadcast engineer I bought the Teradek system to stream live television. The Bond II cube and Core subscription work great to stream to multiple sources. However, this Slice decoder is completely unstable with freezing and often totally failing video feeds. Tech support claimed it was our geographic distance from their server in California to the Midwest, so they installed a server on the East Coast which worked for awhile. Now it's unusable again. We can monitor the incoming video feed on the VLC media player, and confirm a solid incoming video stream, yet this hardware decoder fails to deliver. Expect constant troubleshooting and hours of learning and failing to produce what you hoped for. We're going to spend another $1,000 for a local Sputnik server to see if that helps this boat anchor work.
