    932-251-6D3 - Overview

The SENKO LC Unibody is fully compatible with the original LC family of singlemode and multimode connectors, adapters and associated components, manufactured under a worldwide license from OFS Fitel. The Unibody features a compact, pull-proof design with RJ-45 style interface, and features a one-piece molded housing with internal strength member, for significantly improved 90° side-pull performance under Telcordia GR-326-CORE testing. It is manufactured using a ruggedized material that results in a latch trigger up to four times stronger than average.

The LC Unibody Series includes an optional anti-snag collar that prevents accidental tear and damage in high density networks. The collar comes in either simplex or duplex configurations, and can be used on the same connector body, eliminating the need to purchase different housing styles. The series includes a jumper connector designed for 2.0mm cordage, and a Behind the Wall (BTW) version for 900µm buffered fiber. The Unibody can be used for singlemode and multimode applications with either a PC or APC endface. Plastic housing and boot made from UL rated materials are also available. The series is compliant with Telcordia GR-326-CORE, IEC 61754-20, and TIA/EIA 604-10 standards, and meets independent testing criteria from OFS Fitel.

What do you need to know about the "OM" fiber number 1,2,3 & 4?
Simply this...OM1, OM2, OM3 and OM4 represent different generations of multimode fiber (MMF). OM1 is 62.5 micron core diameter, while OM2, OM3 and OM4 are 50 micron core diameter. OM2 is considered standard 50 micron MMF, while OM3 and OM4 fibers are laser-optimized multimode fibers (LOMMF).

OM1 and OM2 fibers are generally used in systems for 10MB/s to 1GB/s Ethernet. OM3 and OM4 (LOMMF) are designed for Ethernet of 10GB/s where OM3 can support this bandwidth up to 300 meters and OM4 up to 550 meters. Now listen up as this is important to know and useful in field work.... OM3 is backwards compatible to OM2 and OM4 is backwards compatible to OM3 and OM2 Which means you can mix and match but be aware of the limitations. If you are using an OM3 cable and an OM4 connector you'll be only passing the OM3 signal strength which is 300 meters (1000 feet) compared to the OM4 signal strength which can be carried 550 meters (Approx 1800 feet)
