Can I use a regular smart TV for Digital Signage?
Well, yes, but there are serious limitations. Consumer TVs lack built-in media players, and while they can accommodate external media players and signage apps, they weren't built to take the abuse! Consumer TVs are designed for about 8 to 16 hours of daily use, so operating them continuously greatly shortens their work life and voids warranties. Pushing an average of 400 nits of brightness, they can easily be washed out in bright indoor and outdoor locations. Additionally, most consumer models do not support permanent portrait (vertical) mounting and will overheat when displayed sideways!

Do I need a touchscreen monitor for Digital Signage?
That depends on what you're trying to accomplish! Digital Signage screens can be Interactive or Non-interactive displays, with both versions designed for 24/7 use. If you want to convey passive information, such as announcements, promotions, images, or videos, less expensive non-interactive displays are preferred. If you're looking for engagement, Interactive Touch Displays feature specialized surfaces, touch capabilities, and built-in media players and Wi-Fi, useful for tasks such as self-service kiosks, wayfinding, and directories.
