SU60K - Overview

Tripp Lite's SU60K (60kVA) SmartOnline Modular 3-Phase Intelligent, True On-Line UPS System provides 100% system availability with N+1 modular architecture and 1+1 parallel capability. In an N+1 configuration, the SU60K features three self-contained, redundant 20kVA power modules that can be hot-swapped if maintenance is required. Connect two SU60K models in parallel (1+1 configuration) to provide fail-safe redundancy (two 60kVA models supporting a 60kVA load) or to increase capacity (two 60kVA models supporting an 120kVA load). The SU60K provides mission-critical equipment with the highest level of power protection available. Large capacity 60,000VA/48,000 watt UPS continually converts incoming AC power into filtered DC power, and then resynthesizes it back into AC power with a pure sine wave. Hardwire input and output connections support a variety of permanent or PDU style power connections. SU60K features 120/208V AC, 3-phase, 4-wire (plus ground), wye input and output. It also features a wide input voltage correction range: 94-150/163-260V AC. Frequency is 50 or 60 Hz (auto-selectable). SU60K features a single small-footprint tower power module. A stand-alone hardwired external battery module (Models BP480V26B or BP480V40C with matching battery cabinets, available separately) is required for operation and to provide battery backup support. Additional external BP480V26B or BP480V40C battery modules can be connected for extended runtime. A manual bypass breaker as well as an automatic bypass function ensure 100% availability of connected equipment by safely passing through AC power if the UPS requires maintenance. Front panel combination LCD/LED display alerts users to a variety of UPS operational modes and conditions. The LCD display includes a real-time event log screen with up to 500 events listed. A dynamic battery management screen optimizes battery function to lengthen service life and allows cold restart of UPS during a prolonged blackout. An Emergency Power Off button turns UPS output OFF and disables Bypass output. Built-in Emergency Power Off (EPO) dry-contact interface supports remote emergency shutdown in large facilities. A start-up service program is recommended to enhance the reliability of the installation.

What does Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) mean?
An uninterruptible power supply (UPS) provides nearly instantaneous power when the main utility power source fails, allowing either time for power to return or for the user to shut down the system or equipment normally by closing running computer system applications and using the operating system to shut down the system. The user has between five and 15 minutes to shut down a system normally or bring an auxiliary power source online to restore the power supply. In addition, most UPS systems also work to address power source electrical surges, sag voltage, voltage spikes, frequency instability, noise interference or harmonic distortion from the ideal sinusoidal wave form. If you're concerned about power failures, especially if you've lost work on your computer due to power outages in the past, you should buy a UPS. A UPS combines a surge suppressor with a big battery, and has special circuitry that detects a power failure and quickly switches over to run your equipment on its battery. The sole purpose of a UPS is to give you a few minutes at the start of a power failure to do two things:
-Save your work, and
-Shut down your computer.
Please Note: A UPS is not designed to let you continue to use your computer for hours and hours until the power comes back on. If properly chosen, a UPS will give you 5 to 10 minutes (possibly more) to save and do an orderly shutdown.
