The Blackmagic Design StudioBridge 100G is designed to bridge low-cost single link 10G Ethernet SMPTE-2110 connections into high-end redundant 100G Ethernet based systems. It converts and combines 8 channels of 10G Ethernet into a redundant pair of 100G Ethernet connections. That means customers can plug in 8 separate 10G Ethernet Ultra HD devices. Each 10G Ethernet port has a massive 90W of PoE++ power, so customers can power equipment such as converters and cameras directly from their Ethernet connections.
Blackmagic 2110 IP products conform to the SMPTE-2110 standard, which specifies the transport, synchronization and description of 10-bit video, audio and ancillary data over managed IP broadcast networks. They can re-sync SDI inputs to a common PTP clock, or external gear can lock to the reference output generated from the PTP clock.
All Blackmagic SMPTE-2110 products with 100G Ethernet, plus some 10G Ethernet models have 2 separate Ethernet ports to support redundancy. SMPTE-2110 redundancy sends two identical copies of their video and audio across two separate network connections. This works even better when the redundant Ethernet ports are connected to separate Ethernet switches. This redundancy is called SMPTE 2022-7 Seamless Protection Switching. It compares incoming RTP packets on both connections by sequence number, then reconstructs a perfect video frame from whichever packet of pixels arrives first. The switchover is real-time and totally seamless, so customers never get dropped frames or audio glitches.
Please Note: 100G 2110 systems, such as Blackmagic Design's 100G products, use QSFP28 optical fiber Ethernet cables to carry 8+ channels of Ultra HD video over single-mode fiber. These systems feature redundant 100G Ethernet for SMPTE-2022-7 compliance, providing ultra-high speed connectivity.
