SDI HDMI Audio Embedders De-Embedders

SDI HDMI Audio Embedders De-Embedders

Let's simplify the terms here. In AV systems, embedding is the process of adding an audio signal to a video signal so they travel together. De-embedding means extracting the audio from the video signal so it can be used separately. So, embedded audio is inserted into an HDMI, SDI, or other AV stream, like a camera sending SDI video with embedded audio to a switcher, one cable carrying everything: audio, video, and control! De-embedded audio is extracted and fed directly into audio mixers, speakers, recorders, or DSPs, while the video is passed along as an HDMI signal to a TV, with the extracted audio sent to your soundbar. Markertek Sales Engineers are tech-savvy specialists; they can explain how embedding and de-embedding can redefine your workflow and suggest the right gear to get it done!

FAQ

Why would I embed audio instead of running separate cables?
The most common reasons include keeping audio and video in sync, reducing cable clutter, enabling SDI over longer distances, and combining external audio with camera video.

How many audio channels can be embedded?
The number of audio channels that can be embedded is dependent on the technology and file format, especially in broadcast. SDI supports 2-16 channels whereas 12G-SDI supports up to 64 channels.
